Privacy Policy

Aiden is built to avoid collecting your information. Your chats and provider keys belong on your Mac and with the services you choose.
Overview
Aiden is designed as a local-first macOS app for using AI providers you choose. We do not collect, sell, rent, or share personal information through the Aiden website or app.
This policy explains what Aiden does and does not collect, how provider connections work, and what to expect when you use third-party AI services through the app.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your chats, prompts, uploaded files, provider API keys, model responses, contact lists, device identifiers, precise location, payment information, or analytics events.
The Aiden website does not use analytics scripts, advertising pixels, cross-site tracking cookies, or behavioral profiling tools.
Local app data
Aiden stores chat history and app settings locally on your Mac. Provider API keys are intended to be stored on your device, such as in macOS Keychain, and are not sent to Aiden servers.
You control the data you enter into Aiden and can remove local app data from your Mac using the app or normal macOS storage controls when available.
Third-party AI providers
When you connect a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, Ollama, LM Studio, or another model service, requests are sent to that provider or local service so it can respond.
Those providers may process prompts, files, metadata, and responses under their own privacy policies, data retention rules, and account settings. Review each provider before connecting it to Aiden.
Website hosting and security
Like most websites, our hosting provider may process basic technical logs needed to deliver pages, prevent abuse, and keep the site reliable. We do not use those logs to identify visitors or build profiles.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but Aiden is designed to reduce exposure by avoiding an Aiden cloud account, central chat sync, and website analytics.
Children, changes, and contact
Aiden is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and the date above.
Questions about privacy can be sent to the Aiden project maintainer through the Aiden GitHub repository linked from the main website.
